RE: 15" Tire problem---SOLVED **update with pics**

Awesome looking wheel/tire combo! Glad you were able to go to 16 inch rims...was not a viable option for me! I ended up with Sendel 15 inch wheels and Denman E rated tires. So far...so good!

RE: '08 D/A...do you like them? I traded in my '06 for '08

I can't sat enough about our new Chevy D/A. Not only does it tow fantastic but the ride is so much more comfortable than our previous rig. As far as the DPF, leave it stock and ignore it. Most are trouble free.

RE: Buying new or used???

We bought used and never regretted it. It was a "one owner" rig who took good care of it. It looked barely used, appeared water tight and everything worked (appliances etc.) The previous owner had already installed some extra shelving, water heater bypass etc. Apparently he had worked out all the "new purchase" bugs as our Springdale has been trouble free. The purchase was through a dealer so we did have some recourse if it fell apart on the way home.
Best of luck!

RE: Something stuck between carpet and slideout floor!!!!

I have heard of screws popping through the floor of the slide tearing up the carpet. I have no idea how you get to them?
Ron W.
Our couch and dinette slide out. After putting the slide out once, I noticed a line in the carpet with the fibers pulled up. Crawled underneath the rig and began pushing the liner up against the slide bottom. I dicovered a screw from the couch framework was poking through. I backed the screw out, problem solved.
Best of luck!

RE: My turn...dropped 5er onto tailgate...lucky

Dave H M,
I have this same type of hitch...(Hijacker). It's pretty easy to see the locking bar blocking the pin. If the handle lock holes don't line up, it can't be closed properly. I really like this hitch for that reason. Call me crazy, I still can't move without doing a pull test...lets me check the trailer brakes too!

RE: Hangar Queens

Good morning!
That is a common phenomenon aorund here too! Many reasons possible, perhaps an older pilot lost his medical but can't part with his "baby". Our neigbor had a very nice camper that was never used, just sat in his driveway getting dirty for years. Time and money was the issue for him. He did finally sell it. Another acquaintance found a new hobby (Harley Davidson's)so his TT sits idle. From money to health, to many options to second quess why "hanger queens" exist. We will do our best to keep our 5ver on the road but we to can't use it as much as we would like!

RE: MPG on 3/4 Ton

Not sure everyone lies, maybe exaggerate is a kinder word :)...my Duramax gets a solid 14 to 15 in the city. Best highwway mileage is 20 and towing our 5ver ranges from 12 to 13 over the North Cascades. These are DIC figures. I have 9000 on it.

RE: Current pricing of non motorized RV.s

We just got a sales event flyer for a local dealer. The prices were unbelievably low on the towables, and about average on the motorized.
I am seeing the same thing here! Some amazing advertised pricing on new and used towables.

RE: Maxxis (D) vs. Carlisle (E) vs. Marathon (C)

After having a brand new Marathon blow out, I purchased Denman E rated and opted for new rims. Personally, I would have gone to 16 inch rims if I would have been able to fit them on our rig!

RE: new tires

If you stay with a 15 inch ST tire...I would pass on the Goodyears and go with Maxxis or Denman. My experience with Goodyears was less than satisfactory!

RE: packing a roadtrip grill

Hello!
I have one of these grills and although they are very "convenient" they can be a pain!
I keep my grills in a plastic garbage bag as the BBQ is kept in our 5ver basement. This helps keep the grease and smell out of our RV. They are very difficult to keep clean. I use foil to cover the entire inside bottom and use Pam on the actual grills.
The grills themselves are difficult to cook on because they have that "paddle" looking design in the middle. Food gets burnt there (fried literally) and where the grill is open is usually undercooked.
I have never had any problems with the Coleman but it does take some time to get used to! Not like cooking on a "normal" BBQ.
Best of luck!

RE: Height of truck bed, is it a problem?

Just went outside and measured from the ground to the bed of my 2007.5 NBS 2500 HD 4x4 Duramax at the rear bumper and it is about 36 inches. The truck sits rear high unloaded so this is the highest point. From the ground to the top of the bed rail is 57 inches and from the bed the rail measures 21 inches. I had to lower the hitch one hole. It tows great! 6+ rail clearance.
Best of Luck!
